Southern Westchester BOCES is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Building Principal . SWBOCES, whose core values are trust, respect, collaboration, while always striving for excellence, provides special education programs throughout Westchester County which offer the full continuum of student services. This position serves the needs of all students in a supportive and therapeutic setting, while simultaneously emphasizing social and emotional skill development and a rigorous curriculum aligned to the NYS Standards.

 

PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Leadership:

  • Serve as the instructional leader of the building team in data driven decision making, the building of inclusionary practices and full continuum of services, as well as transition planning for all students.
  • Build a positive school culture that aligns with the SWBOCES Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals, based on the values of Trust, Respect, Collaboration and Excellence.
  • Support on-going work towards the SWBOCES goals of developing shared language around instructional process and planning and building a connected learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and clinical staff to identify individual learning needs of all students.
  • Ensure the implementation of all students’ Individual Education Plans
  • Lead and facilitate instructional planning based on the implementation of the Next Generation Learning Standards in all classes.
  • Support and coach instructional staff in developing differentiated, rigorous lessons designed to meet the needs of all learners.

  • Collaboratively identify and plan for the provision of  the professional development needs of all staff.

  • Collaborate and participate in the Intake Process for potential students.
  • Develop programs based on federal and state mandates as well as emerging district needs.
